The wait is finally over, after weeks of multiple leaks, Samsung has finally launched the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ at MWC 2018, Barcelona. The Samsung Galaxy S9 and its bigger sibling Galaxy S9+ succeeds the last year Galaxy S8 and S8+ as the new flagship devices for 2018. The new Galaxy S9 and S9+ have more difference and its elder sibling comes packed with more feature which truly justifies the price tag. Although the design, specification and many features were leaked ahead of launch. The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ stand apart with many new rich features. Both the devices will be hitting the markets starting March 16 this year. The Galaxy S9 is priced at the US $ 719.99 and Galaxy S9+ at $ 839.99. There have been no launch details for Indian market yet. The smartphone will be available in Midnight Black, Lilac Purple and Coral Blue variants. The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus also come with their signature infinity display with few new advancements, also the fingerprint sensor now sits below the camera sensor making it more convenient to use.
Samsung Galaxy S9 Specifications
The Samsung Galaxy S9 runs Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. The display on the smartphone is a 5.8-inch Infinity display with Quad HD resolution Super AMOLED screen with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Also supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision. The Galaxy S9 is powered by Snapdragon 845 for US and CHINA and Samsung Exynos 9810 for Rest of the World with 4GB RAM and different storage variant of 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. The smartphone also comes with expandable micro-SD card slot which can add up to 400GB of extra storage.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 features a 12MP SuperSpeed Dual Pixel camera with autofocus sensor and OIS. The smartphone’s camera has a new dual aperture lens that automatically shifts from f/1.5 to f/2.4 based on the different lighting conditions. The device is capable of shooting videos in 4K and ultra-slow-motion videos. The front sensor is an 8MP single camera.

The Battery on the Samsung Galaxy S9 is 3000mAh and supports fast and wireless charging. Connectivity options include WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac 2.4G+5 GHz, Bluetooth 5.0, Irish scanner, Fingerprint sensor.

The Samsung Galaxy S9+ also comes with the same processor like the Galaxy S9 but comes with 6GB of RAM. The S9+ comes with a slightly larger 6.2-inch screen with the same resolution and the design of the devices have been slightly modified to make the bottom chin of the device even lesser giving a better screen to body ration.The storage option includes 64GB, 128GB and 256GB which can be expandable up to 400GB. The camera sensor on the Galaxy S9+ has an addition 12MP rear telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture. At the front its the same 8MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture. The Battery on the Samsung Galaxy S9+ is a 3500mAh which also support fast and wireless charging.
Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+ extra features
Besides the camera of the new smartphone, Samsung has added few new features like the AR Emoji and Bixby. AR Emoji uses AI to analyse 2D image of the user and creates a 3D model with user facial expression. Bixby is now capable of doing a lot many things, it can now generate information by just scanning things, Also translate foreign languages and currency in real time.
The Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ support Dolby Atmos and are compatible with the next-gen DeX docking system. With Dex Pad, users can easily connect the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ to a larger display and expand the mobile experience to a next level. The devices come with stereo speakers and the sound signature has been specifically tuned by AKG. Samsung has also included AKG branded earphones in the bag which serve best when used with the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+.
