Asus today unveiled its ZenFone 5 series of a smartphone at MWC 2018 in Barcelona. Asus launched the ZenFone 5, ZenFone 5 Lite and ZenFone 5Z. All the smartphones offer AI-enable features, an 18:9 all screen display and dual-camera setup. All the three smartphones are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Also, the all-new ZeniMoji was launched which is Asus take on Apple’s Animoji. Along with the ZenFone 5, Asus also launched the ZenFone Max (M1) and ZenFone Max Plus (M1) which is the smaller variant, both the smartphone runs Snapdragon 430 and Snapdragon 425 SoC.

Among all the three devices the Asus ZenFone 5Z (ZS620KL) is the flagship smartphone running the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and is Asus offering to the premium segment with a price tag starting at EUR 479 ( About Rs. 38,400 ) for the 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage variant. The smartphone is the Android variant of Apple iPhone X, with all-screen display and a notch for the front camera and other sensor units. The price for the bigger variant of Asus ZenFone 5Z with 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage has not been revealed. Similarly, Asus has not revealed the price of the ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 5 Lite either. All the device will arrive soon starting from next month itself. The Asus ZenFone 5 Lite will arrive in March followed by ZenFone 5 in April and finally the ZenFone 5Z in June.

The Asus ZenFone 5 Lite will be available in two variants, one will be powered by Snapdragon 430 SoC with Adreno 505 GPU and the other variant will be powered by Snapdragon 630 SoC with Adreno 505 GPU. The smartphone will come in two variants a 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage and 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage options. There is an option of expandable storage option on both the variants of smartphone via microSD card which can take up to 2TB of memory. The display on Asus ZenFone 5 Lite is a 6-inch full HD+ IPS display with Asus Blue light eye care filter. The smartphone runs Android Oreo with the company own ZenUI 5.0 skin on the top.

The Asus ZenFone 5 Lite has a dual rear camera setup, with a 16MP f/2.2 aperture sensor and equivalent focal length in 35mm, 80-degree field of view, PDAF and LED flashlight. The second rear camera on the smartphone is an 8MP 120-degree wide angle camera, 6p lens, 12.5mm equivalent focal length in 35mm film camera. The Asus Zenfone 5 Lite sports a dual camera setup on both front and rear. The primary front camera is a 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor with a f/2.0 aperture, 85.5-degree field of view, 23.4mm equivalent focal length in 35mm film camera and also comes with soft light LED flash.  The secondary front camera is an 8MP sensor, 120-degree wide-angle lens and 12.5mm equivalent focal length in 35mm film camera.

Asus ZenFone 5 Lite include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n on the Snapdragon 430 SoC and Wi-Fi 802.11ac on the Snapdragon 630 SoC, FM radio, 3.5mm headphone Jack, Bluetooth v4.1, NFC and Micro-USB. The smartphone is powered by a 3300mAh battery which can deliver a good battery life. The fingerprint sensor is been placed on the rear panel and also has Face Unlock features. The Asus ZenFone 5 Lite will be available in three colour variants the Midnight Black, Rouge Red and Moonlight White.

Among the three variants of Asus ZenFone 5 Launched, the Asus ZenFone 5Z is a flagship device from Asus. The smartphone sports a 6.2-inch full HD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio making the smartphone taller than the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S-Series. This could be possibly called the Apple iPhone X running Android. The display comes loaded with many features from Asus. The Asus ZenFone 5Z is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC with Artificial Intelligence Engine and Adreno 630 GPU. The device comes in three different variant the base model comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage, and the 6GB RAM 128GB storage variant and the top of the line smartphone comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage.

The camera on the Asus ZenFone 5Z comes with dual camera setup, the primary camera sports a 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor with a f/1.8 aperture, 83-degree field of view, 24mm equivalent focal length in 35mm film camera and a soft light LED flash. The secondary camera on the rear is an 8MP sensor with a 120-degree wide angle lens, a f/2.2 aperture. The front camera on Asus ZenFone 5Z is an 8MP sensor with a f/2.0 aperture, 84-degree field of view and a 24mm equivalent focal length in a 35mm camera. The smartphone also comes with 3-axis EIS for both front and rear cameras and real-time beautification features. The device also supports face unlock feature.

The Asus ZenFone 5Z comes in 3 different storage variants the 64GB, 128GB and the top model with 256GB. This can be expanded more up to 2TB using microSD card slot. The Connectivity option on the smartphone includes 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v5.0, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and USB Type-C. The smartphone doesn’t miss on the 3.5mm headphone jack. The fingerprint sensor is placed on the back of the smartphone. The Asus ZenFone 5Z is packed with 3300mAh battery which also supports AI charging Tech. The smartphone runs Android 8.0 with ZenUI 5.0 and comes with dual-SIM support. This Flagship device from Asus comes with many new features including dual 5-magnet speakers with dual NXP smart amplifiers, triple internal microphones with noise reduction and a PMIC internal dual amplifier as well as DTS Headphone. The device will be made available in two colour variants the Midnight Blue and Meteor Silver.
